Misty Rondeau is a multifaceted musician based in western North Carolina where she is assistant professor of woodwinds/music education at Mars Hill University.

Performing recitals, concertizing, and conducting clinics across the United States, Rondeau is an active flutist. She has appeared regularly with the Mobile Symphony Orchestra, Meridian Symphony Orchestra, the Sinfonia Gulf Coast, and the Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra. As featured soloist with orchestra or wind ensemble, her performances include concerti by Cimarosa, Doppler, Chaminade, Mozart, and Michael Young. A tireless advocate of contemporary classical music, Rondeau has given the world premiere of several compositions commissioned by and dedicated to her. With her ensemble FUJIN, she has toured throughout the country, lectured at the 2015 Mid-South Flute Festival, and performed at the 2016 U.S. Navy International Saxophone Symposium. She has released two albums; Evergreen (2019) and Fujin: The 10th Anniversary Album (2020).

In addition to flute and piccolo, Rondeau is a proficient performer on all clarinets, saxophones, and oboe. She utilizes these skills in her steady work as an orchestral musician for several regional theater companies (Asheville Community Theatre, Parkway Playhouse, Haywood Arts Regional Theatre, Flat Rock Playhouse, and more). Recent productions for which Rondeau has played reed books include The Producers, Into the Woods, Jesus Christ Superstar, and the world premiere run of Acito & Libby’s Chasing Rainbows. Rondeau occasionally appears as pianist — including when she staged and directed her own sold-out production of Musical of Musicals: The Musical! at 35Below (Asheville, NC) in January 2017.

Rondeau’s experiences as a music educator are wide-ranging, encompassing K-12 public schools and private university positions, bands and orchestras, the United States and England. Just prior to her full-time appointment to Mars Hill University, she taught in both the Buncombe County and Asheville City public school systems. From 2012 to 2014, Rondeau presided as the Tau B Province Officer for Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity; she continues to serve SAI as the financial officer for the Lambda Beta chapter.

Misty Rondeau received degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi in Music Education (BMEd) and Flute Performance (MM) where she studied with Sharon Lebsack. She has also taken lessons from and participated in master classes with renowned soloists Sir James Galway, Paul Edmund Davies, and Wissam Boustany.
